Richard Hendrick, CKD
Owner, Kitchen and Bath Designer
Richard has spent his entire 35 year career in the family business. His father and CKI Founder was his mentor and instilled in Richard the dedicated, client-focused, collaborative approach on which our company still runs.
Melissa Utt Heatley
Kitchen and Bath Designer
Melissa has been in the construction and design business for 17 years, has worked for award-winning architects and interior designers in the Richmond area, and she has also taught architecture and design at the University of Louisiana.
Kyle Hendrick
Kitchen and Bath Designer
Kyle is the third generation of the Hendrick family to join Custom Kitchens, Inc. Kyle has learned the business from the ground up, initially working as a carpenter’s helper and as an office assistant before becoming a designer in 2012.
Kimberly Carter
Kitchen and Bath Designer
Kimberly has a degree in interior design with an emphasis in kitchen and bath design from Virginia Tech. She has been designing kitchens and bathrooms for Custom Kitchens for over 15 years.
Carter Hendrick
Kitchen and Bath Designer
After working in the field in high school and spending a few years working in the front office, Carter has officially moved to sales and design after getting as much first hand knowledge as possible! He’s happy to be working with his brothers as the third generation of Hendricks to helm Custom Kitchens.
Allison B. Stowers, CKD
Kitchen and Bath Designer
Allison is a Certified Kitchen Designer, who has been a part of the kitchen and bath industry for over 20 years. She joined the Custom Kitchens family in 2005 when she moved to the Richmond area.
Laura Lyles
Project Manager & Designer
Laura works closely with Kyle to make sure he stays on track. She is responsible for the nitty gritty, behind the scenes works that it takes to keep a job running! She has a great eye for design and is truly invaluable to all of Custom Kitchens. When she’s not at work, you can find her spending time with her family, including her fiancé, Robin.
Curtis Hendrick
Installation Coordinator
A proud JMU grad, Curtis came back to CKI after spending 5 years in project management. Curtis is the guy coordinating our installers, and he strives for 100% customer satisfaction. When he’s not at work, Curtis loves spending time outdoors with his wife and dachshund puppy, Sunshine.
Angie Thomson
Product Specialist & Design Assistant
As the showroom manager, Angie works on making sure that our products and displays are up to date. She will also assist you with any in-depth questions you may have about design, our products, and our process. Angie graduated with a master’s in Interior Environments from VCU in 2021. We call her our secret weapon, because she’s quick as a whip and smart as one, too!
Kim Hatton
Accounts Manager
Kim keeps our books on track. She is the kind of person who actually enjoys tasks like job costing! When she’s not keeping our numbers straight, you’ll find her hanging out with her grandson, Liam, or finishing up projects around her house.
Jennifer Strader
Client Care & Showroom Manager
As the latest addition to our team, Jennifer will be your guide, giving you background and information on products and designs. Jennifer loves to spend time traveling with her family. She also enjoys having pets around - her small farm is proof of that!
Meredith Wieners
Project Manager & Designer
Meredith joined our team after graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Kitchen & Bath Design and has been with us since 2019. She’s spent two years as our Showroom Manager, and is now moving to more behind the scenes work as she helps Richard run his jobs. She’s excited for this new opportunity and can’t wait to learn all she can from a veritable wealth of wisdom like Richard.
Robert Jensen
Shop Manager
Robert is a master carpenter and has been gracious enough to teach everyone at CKI a thing or two. Robert enjoys working out back in the shop and when he’s not doing that you’ll find him hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
James (J.T.) Hall
Cabinet Installer
James has been expertly installing cabinets and trim for 30 years. He loves the crisp, clean lines of a finished job and the personal interaction he gets to have with our clients. Outside of work he plays and sings in his church’s praise band and choir and is the frontman of a local band.
William Meredith
Cabinet Installer and Trim Carpenter
William has been creating beautiful kitchens and baths with Custom Kitchens since 1994. Our customers rave about his work, calling him an artist and a pleasure to have in their home.
John Bonds
Warehouse Delivery Driver
John has been ensuring that cabinetry, appliances, and fixtures are delivered to our customers’ homes on time and in perfect condition for 24 years. He’s
driven every kind of truck and has received numerous safety awards for his driving skills. John is also a regular at many local 7-11s.
Tyler Owens
Warehouse Delivery Driver
Tyler helps guarantee the safe delivery of cabinets and appliances while also serving as backup for the cabinet installers. He has been a member of our team for a little over a year and we enjoy having him around. Outside of work, you can find Tyler riding rollercoasters, listening to records, hiking, and enjoying time with his cats!
Matt Sackett
Cabinet Installer
Matt has been in the cabinet industry for nearly two decades, and he’s spent over a decade of that time with us. Matt loves seeing a project go from plans to a finished design and playing an integral role in that process.
Phil Holcombe
Cabinet Installer
Phil has been a fun addition to our team. He is a jack of all trades and we enjoy listening to the stories from his previous occupations. Currently, as a cabinet installer, Phil “makes it work,” as he is great at problem solving and guaranteeing that the design come to life for full client satisfaction. Phil enjoys spending time with his family and his dogs, Bert and Ernie.
Ronnie Harlow
Retired, Cabinet Installer
Ronnie has been installing kitchens with us for a little over two years. Ronnie has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. Before Custom Kitchens, he ran his own flooring company in Richmond. Outside of work, Ronnie plays in a local bluegrass band.
David Hendrick, CKD
Retired, Kitchen and Bath Designer
David worked in the family business beginning in high school, and the forty-odd years after that! In his retirement, he started flipping houses with his wife and daughter. We're lucky to have had him for so long, and even more lucky that he’ll be around to help us when we need it!
Bobby Hollins
Retired, Cabinet Installer
Bobby’s history with cabinets goes back 50 years, but he’s been with us for 15. Despite being “retired” you can find Bobby lending a hand with us a few days a week. We’re happy to see him as often as we do!
Douglas Leake, CKD
Retired, Kitchen and Bath Designer
Doug has been in the design business with us since 1986. After retiring recently, he is looking forward to spending time with his grandkids, but we’re not worried! We hear from him often and he’s happy to talk through any problem we have.
